On Wednesday June 21 at 1pm, the City of Cincinnati Council's Equitable Growth & Housing Committee will hold a hearing on the proposed ordinance to allow for the establishment of Accessory Dwelling Units on the same lots as single-family dwellings throughout the City. Many of you may have seen the recent article from The Enquirer about this year's graduating class at Withrow University High School. Unfortunately, because over 125 students owe fees for activities like field trips, and classroom materials like books, tablets, pens and paper, they will not receive their diplomas until they're able to pay off these fees.
If you would like to donate to the fund you can do so here. Please include a note indicating that your donation is in support of the 2023 class at Withrow University High School.
On Tuesday May 9 at 7pm, the Hyde Park Neighborhood Council (HPNC) will hold its Annual Meeting. The meeting will be held at Clark Montessori High School at 3030 Erie Avenue.
The Annual Meeting will include:
Please join us on Tuesday evening as we recognize Hyde Park’s students and community members, and as we discuss key issues that will shape Hyde Park and our city for years to come.
Meeting Info
The City is hosting a Public Staff Conference regarding the proposed ordinance permitting Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at 6:00 PM, virtually on Zoom. To register, or for more information, please contact: Gabrielle Couch - gabrielle.couch@cincinnati-oh.gov. You can also read about the proposed amendment here.
Additional Background
In summer of 2020, the Department of City Planning & Engagement began researching the topic of Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) based on the recommendations of the Property Tax Working Group. A full report was produced which ultimately recommended that the City pursue the inclusion of ADUs in the Zoning Code. In fall of 2022 Council-member Mark Jeffreys hosted a series of community engagement sessions on the topic, and an ordinance was drafted. On March 28, 2023 that ordinance was officially referred to the City Planning Commission for review. This public staff conference is a part of that review process.
The purpose of this meeting is to share the proposal and gather input and public comment to be used in staff’s report to the City Planning Commission. No decisions will be made.
The community of Hyde Park is fortunate to be home to many talented, caring, and charitable individuals. Some have touched people with acts of kindness or added to the quality of life in our community. Others have shown remarkable dedication to neighborhood issues or made other significant contributions that have made a difference. Each year at its Annual Meeting, the Hyde Park Neighborhood Council (HPNC) honors an exemplary adult resident of Hyde Park —one of those remarkable people we are proud to call neighbor. HPNC invites all Hyde Park residents to nominate a Hyde Park adult who is worthy of this honor.
Do you know a special Hyde Park resident who has touched people with acts of kindness or added significantly to the quality of life in our community? Someone who has shown remarkable dedication to neighborhood issues or made other major contributions that have made a difference? If so, please consider nominating them for this wonderful award.
You can find the Nomination Form here. Once completed, please return it to HPNCpres@gmail.com by 5:00 PM on April 19th,2023.
